You’re never too old to start learning, and you’re never too young to aim high and achieve great things.
– Asa Hutchinson
I had a desire for some time now but never really voiced it to anyone. It’s been on my vision board as well as in my mind. I’m not even sure where this desire came from but it’s been lingering and I felt it was finally time to do something about it.
I absolutely love learning new things but since my adult years it’s mostly been in the form of reading books or taking online courses. It had been forever that I actually took a class that meets in person to learn something new – just for the fun of it.⠀

Why is it that we’re so eager to sign our kids up for gymnastics, dance, soccer, theater and everything else under the sun and we end up just being a spectator? ⠀
⠀
Why is it that once you’re into your adult years you stop taking classes and wanting to learn something new?⠀
It’s time we give ourselves permission to listen to our desires and go for it no matter how out of left field it may seem (to others).⠀
For months now I’ve had the desire to learn how to play piano. Not sure where it came from – I’m not musical and never really played an instrument except of course for the recorder in elementary school and then drums in junior high. But this desire just kept coming up so I finally TOOK ACTION and when I saw that a local community center had a class for beginners, I signed up!⠀
It’s a 10 week class that meets every Saturday morning. The class consists of me, an older couple and a 12 yr old girl. I have 2 lessons under my belt and I’m absolutely loving it so far! I feel like I’ve learned so much already in such a short time. I’ve been practicing every day and have even MASTERED Mary Had A Little Lamb, Row Row Row Your Boat and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. ⠀Jingle Bells is still tripping me up a bit but I keep practicing and I’m determined to get it right!
My ultimate goal is to be able to play Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and Lady Gaga’s You and I. I was inspired by watching Freddie Mercury in the Live Aid performance on YouTube (like a hundred times) and Lady Gaga when she did a live performance at The Today Show years back.
#goals!!⠀
Fortunately we had a keyboard buried in the back of one of our closets and I ordered the book my teacher suggested I get to practice with.
I’m cracking up at the title and trying not to be too insulted! 🙂 Instead I’m just enjoying the process of learning something new.
What’s something new you’ve been wanting to try?

Congrats and lots of luck. My mom, auntie Ann, tried piano in her 80s to lessen pain of arthritis. So, no, never too old! Good luck. Btw the piano was always a staple in the Luzzo households. Me, Maria, Gina ( who majored in music and teaches in case u run into trouble) your in-laws, the Mamones and of course our talented Vincent. 😍👍❤
