In October I made a decision to make creativity a priority in my life – not just in words but in actions as well. I’ve created more than I had in years and it’s been great! I feel like I’m on a roll!
This is the thing about waiting for inspiration which is what I used to do. It rarely comes! The way that’s been working for me now is by doing. I’ve been drawing in my sketchbook using colored pencils and brush markers. I find the more consistent I am, the more ideas come to mind on what to draw, make or create next.
It’s been helping to keep me focused, calm and relaxed. It’s an excellent escape!!!
Here’s the latest from my sketchbook shown in the order that I drew them.
I find the repetitive nature of patterns the most soothing. This drawing practice has helped me to be more mindful and is teaching me how to stay present and be less distracted.
If you’re looking for ways to add more mindfulness to your day try drawing patterns!! Let me know if you have any questions about it and if you do start to draw, I’d love to see! Show me in the comments or tag me on Instagram at @staceynatal
