One of my favorite creative activities to do to quiet my mind is to draw repeating patterns. I literally get lost in the enjoyable monotony of drawing the same pattern over and over. I usually keep a journal nearby because I tend to come up with interesting ideas after finishing drawing. That’s what happens when you quiet the mind!
Some days I feel like I could do this all day! But on most days I put it off until the evening or when I feel like I need a break from the computer. I’m working on making it more of a priority like journaling is. I usually feel some level of guilt like I SHOULD be doing the more IMPORTANT things. But creativity and mindset ARE important!
I always use the same sketchbook – Canson Mixed Media. I love the texture and thickness of the paper. I also purposely use a 5.5 x 8.5 inch size as it’s not too big and overwhelming. The last thing I want to feel is overwhelmed when I reach for my sketchbook!
At the beginning of December I recorded a tour of the sketchbook I had just finished. and completely forgot about it. Today I remembered and thought I’d share. If you find this interesting let me know and I’ll do more! In the past I’ve posted induvial pages from various sketchbooks which you can see here.
Here’s what I like to use:
- Canson 5.5 x 8.5 Mixed Media Sketchbook
- Micron Pens (black ink) Size 1 is my fave
- Colored Pencils
- Brush Tip Markers
