This week in my Clubhouse room the question came up about how to get started with vision boards without feeling overwhelmed. A woman in the room mentioned she was really excited about the THOUGHT of creating one, had a pile of magazines, a ton of supplies and lots of desires. But where and how to start was putting her into full blown overwhelm mode!
This is what I suggested – start small, and just start!
“If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.”
— Bruce Lee
Instead of creating a board for all aspects of your life and for a long time frame, try one of these options instead…
1 – Choose ONE Area of Your Life
Which area in your life has the strongest desires and could use the most improvement? Let’s say your health is on track but you’re not happy with your career. Would you prefer a full time job? Start a business? Get really clear on the details of what you’d love and how you want to feel in your desired career and then create a board just around this one area.
2 – Get Hyper Focused!
Ok maybe focusing on one whole area in your life is still too big so make it even smaller. Choose ONE DESIRE and make a board all about that! Want to go on a creative retreat in Hawaii? Make a board all about that one thing! What will you see, do and how will you feel? Find images, quotes and anything else that will support your goal of going to Hawaii and put it all on that one board.
3 – Timing Is Everything!
Does your head start to spin when you think about what your goals are for the year, or the next 3, 5 or even 10 years down the road? So much can change in such a short time so I suggest to create (or at least revamp) your vision boards quarterly. As you’re achieving your goals, new desires will pop up or ones that you set previously may not even make sense anymore! As you’re growling and evolving, so should your vision boards. If quarterly still seems too long, try creating one for the month!
In my program Visualize To Materialize & MAKE IT HAPPEN we have quarterly virtual vision board parties as an extra added benefit to help you achieve those goals you’re meant to make happen! The private community adds an extra layer of accountability! If you’re ready to really go after your goals, you can check out the program here.
What’s something you have a burning desire to make happen?
