Vision boards are one of my favorite creative tools for manifesting, goal achieving and overall motivation and inspiration.
Before the pandemic I was hosting many in-person vision board workshops. It was so fun to see everyone getting really into designing inspiring visions for their year.
I now have a full blown online program – Visualize To Materialize and MAKE IT HAPPEN as well as host a weekly room on Clubhouse – all about goals, manifesting and vision boards.
After working with, and coaching many people with their goals and the use of vision boards, there are common things that come up when they tell me their vision boards just aren’t working.
Before we get into the 3 most common reasons why vision boards aren’t working, let’s set the record straight. A Vision board is a TOOL that can be used to help manifest your desires. It can be used as a visual representation of your goals. In order for a vision board to work, YOU need to work the board!!!
During my Clubhouse room or on coaching calls when someone says it’s not working I start with 3 basic questions and I offer solutions to turn it around.
Here goes…
1 – Where do you keep your vision board?
Answer– in my closet, in a drawer, under my bed, etc
What’ s the use of having a vision board if you’re never going to look at it? When you look at your vison board daily it’s priming your brain to say – “these are the things that are important to me. This is what I want to focus on!”
Solution – put it in a place where you’ll see it daily. Most common places I hear are office, home office or bedroom. The bedroom is a great place because it can be the first thing you see when waking and the last thing right before falling asleep. Both are prime times for training your subconscious mind!
For me I keep mine in my home office. I spend a lot of time there so it’s always in my peripheral vision.
2 – When was the last time you created a vision board?
Answer – years ago, or worse – NEVER!
It’s important to be aligned with, excited about and inspired by what’s on your vision board! As you grow and evolve, your interests, desires and goals will change as well. You’re not the same person you were years ago!
Solution – do a check in with yourself to see how you feel about what’s on your current board. If it’s not resonating anymore, take it off or better yet start with a clean slate and create a fresh new one! Before you start diving into those magazines, get CLEAR on your desires first!
3 – What actions have you been taking?
Answer – You mean I need to take action?!?
This one usually stumps them. Sometime people think creating the board is the action. I’m all for visualizing and journaling – that’s definitely part of the process but taking action is what also breeds clarity! You don’t need to know everything that needs to be done. Just START. One action will lead to another and you’ll start to see synchronicities and opportunities that you didn’t see before.
Solution – start taking inspired action. Check in with what actions feel inspired and what feels forced. Just start!
Here’s a little Instagram reel I created that talks about this topic. Check it out…
Are you guilty of any of these? If so let me know which one and what you’re going to do about it!
If you’re looking for more support, creativity, community and accountability around your goals and desires, I invite you to check out and join my program Visualize To Materialize & MAKE IT HAPPEN.
