The last couple of weeks to the year can be so hectic! We want to do it all – be present for our families during the holidays and have fun with minimal stress, while also continuing to work on our businesses. For some creative business owners, this is their busiest time of year!
How can we attempt to do it all without the overwhelm?!?
I’ve got a few tips to make it easier and more joyful.
First and foremost take care of YOUR needs first! Alone time to journal, hike, do yoga,, read, meditate, create for fun or whatever else you enjoy doing. Fill YOUR cup first before being available to everyone else and that nasty resentment kicks in – even if it’s just for 30 minutes a day!
Then…
Plan, Batch & Schedule as much as you can!
1 – PLAN – Take some time to plan the last couple of weeks instead of doing everything on the fly. For biz – what will you post on social media? Send out in your newsletters? Finish up client projects? For personal – when will you finish holiday shopping, sending out cards, wrapping gifts and anything else that needs to get done?
2 – BATCH – do similar tasks together rather than multi tasking. Example – edit or prepare all of your images for social media, then in another session write all the captions. For personal – follow up on emails all at once or make all those calls on your list. Wrap as many gifts as you can in one sitting and get others to help you! Bang ’em out! Make your weekday dinners quicker by doing some food prep – chop up a bunch of veggies ahead of time so that when it comes time to cook, the prep is already done!
3 – SCHEDULE as much as possible !in your business – especially social media posts and emails. I personally use Later.com for planning and scheduling social media posts but there are lots of great apps available. It’s really helpful!
Being as prepared and organized as possible will help you to stay present, balanced and enjoy these last couple of weeks before starting a new year. I know it can be easier said than done but any little bit can help!
Share your own tips in the comments. I’d love to hear what you do to stay balanced during this time of year.
