Part of adding more positivity into your life is by following your joy – prioritizing the things you love rather than only focusing on “have-tos” and “shoulds”. My joy comes from creating. Anytime I create or do something artistic it contributes to a more calm, focused, happy mood.
One of my favorite holidays is Halloween. Instead of going out and buying Halloween decorations I decided to make some this past weekend from basic supplies I already had in my home – black paper and crepe paper.
I created this spider web on a wall in my hallway using the black crepe paper. Still need to make spiders!
I also made all of these bats – hand drawing a template then cutting each one out individually. I made a variety of sizes and hung them up on a wall in my office area. It’s making my workspace so much more fun and inspiring to be in!
If you want to make some of your own bats, use my drawing as reference. Fold a piece of paper in half like you were making a card then draw the bat as shown. You only need half because once you cut and unfold, you’ll get the full bat.
You can also watch this video below of me making them if you need more of a visual.
I also wanted to make some ghosts – a project I saw on the blog A Beautiful Mess‘ Instagram account. For this project I had to go out and get yarn and still need to figure out the eyes and where to hang them.
I feel like I had a creatively fulfilling weekend by making time for what makes me happy! (Notice how doing laundry was NOT on my list!! )
What brings you joy and are you making time for those things?
