How often do we try to over complicate things when we can actually make it simple?
Overwhelm can come from over complicating. Instead, break things down to the simplest form to a point where it seems easy and doable. Also it’s important to be aware of what you are allowing to be overwhelming. For me, HAVING TO be in the kitchen all the time is overwhelming to me. This is coming from someone that loves to cook but it’s a different story when you HAVE TO or feel like there’s an expectation. Some days I just don’t want to cook!
Yes, my family still needs to eat but there are other options…
- Someone else can cook
- We can order in
- Not everything needs to be from scratch
- Use simple recipes
- Plan ahead
Recently my daughter asked me to make this watermelon feta salad that she tried when she was on a social distanced picnic with her friend.
I already made it for her 3 times this week! t’s so simple – she could actually make it for herself if she wanted to – but she doesn’t!
Watermelon, feta, fresh mint, squeeze of half lemon and half lime. DONE!!! I’m really working on adding very simple recipes into the mix. The simpler, the better!
Where can you look to simplify things in your life to help reduce overwhelm and make time to do the things you really want to do?
If you have any simple recipes that you love and I should try, let me know in the comments below.
