Do you have a morning routine? Something that gets you going for the rest of the day?
A morning routine has helped me be intentional about how I want the rest of my day to go. Plus it’s time just for me to do the things that make both my mind and body feel good and reinforces a positive mindset.
I’ll share what I do just so you can get an idea but it’s best to create your own morning routine with things that best suit your needs. Everyone is different!
I’m a morning person and love getting up early. It’s when I’m the most alert, focused and productive. Before I start scrolling through social media or check emails I take care of myself first.
It may not surprise you but I start my day by journaling 3 pages. I get all the stuff out of my head. It’s a complete roller coaster ride of emotions from page 1 to page 3 but by the end of page 3 I’m so psyched up and feel like I can do anything!
After journaling I read a few pages (or a chapter) of whatever inspirational book I’m reading. I’m always reading something whether it’s a new book or rereading one that I loved. I’m currently rereading The Artist’s Way and The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity. Love them both!
A new thing I started doing is 10 minutes of yoga and stretches. I usually wake up stiff and with a lower back ache so this has been really helpful! I do a search on YouTube for “Beginner Yoga Stretches” to pick a routine that I like.
Before I eat anything I make celery juice. I don’t have a juicer so for now I blend it and strain it. It’s a process but I heard it has a lot of health benefits – one of them being for your skin and I definitely notice a difference. You need to drink it on an empty stomach though. While I’m straining it I may use that time to listen to an inspirational audio or go through a module of an online course I’m taking.
The last 2 things I do to set my intention is to read the current inspirational quote on my page a day calendar and pick and read a card from Kris Carr’s card deck. I’ve been getting this calendar – Today Is Going To Be A Great Day for years now. I love the quotes, lettering and artwork. Same with the card deck.
By this point I’m ready for my day!
I’d love to hear what you do in your morning routine. Let me know in the comments!
If you’d like to add journiling to your morning routine, I have an online course starting April 27th – How To Use Journaling To Create Positive Changes In Your Life & Biz- you can check it out here.
