This weekend was a rare occasion where both of my girls were busy and my husband and I were free to do whatever we wanted. We’re both artists and wanted to go out and do something creative. He wanted to paint and I wanted to photograph flowers so we settled on heading over to Untermyer Gardens.
It was late afternoon / early evening when we got there. There were more people than usual because they were getting ready to have a Shakespeare performance that evening.
Untermyer Garden is in a great location overlooking the Hudson River. I hadn’t been there this season so I was looking forward to seeing what was in bloom this summer.
I love experimenting and trying out different lenses to get different effects with the flowers I photograph. The editing process is equally as fun!
Sometimes you don’t see things until you look through your lens as in this photograph with the butterfly. Had no idea this little guy was there until I popped on my zoom lens!
I was completely fascinated by the texture and shape of these bell shaped flowers. I hadn’t seen anything like them before.
I’m getting really into photographing flowers but want to take it even deeper by learning the meanings behind each flower. Knowing the names would be a good start! 🙂 If you have any great references I should check out, let me know!
