My favorite season for photography whether it’s business or personal is Fall. I just love all of the deep earthy colors. Think about it – it’s a lot easier to get beautiful images in Fall, Spring and Summer, right?!?
Well guess what?!? We’re in full on Winter mode here in NYC!! The trees are bare exposing their many branches. Dried out leaves are covering the grass, Everything is pretty much brown and blah.
This doesn’t mean I stop shooting in Winter. My photography must go on – especially since I’m taking part in B&H Photo’s Portfolio Development Program.
I’m challenging myself to find beauty in the dead of Winter.
Last weekend I went to a nearby park where in other seasons is blooming with beautiful flowers and gardens. Quite the opposite in Winter! It had a very somber and desolate feel this time. I had to challenge myself to really pay attention and look beyond the obvious lifeless scenery.
This is what I captured…
I took what I photographed and put my own editing spin on it.
I challenge YOU to do the same! Don’t wait for perfect conditions to create your art. You’ll stretch yourself creatively by working is less than ideal situations.
I’d love to see your art whether it’s photography or any other medium. Put a link in the comments to your Instagram account or website so I can take a look.
