It looks like everyone’s feeling it this week—business has been sssslllooowww!! With summer in full swing, it seems like clients and potential clients are either checked out or on vacation. I know it can be super frustrating, but instead of panicking, use this time to tackle those tasks you usually put off. That’s what I’ve been doing, and it feels so productive. It’s helping me stay in a positive, growth-focused mindset instead of spiraling. 🙂
Here are some suggestions on how you can make the most of a slow-down period in your creative biz.
1. Refresh Your Portfolio
Take this time to review and update your website and portfolio. Showcase your best and most recent work, and maybe even try a new presentation style. An updated portfolio can attract new clients and reignite interest from past ones.
2. Boost Your Online Presence
Engage more with your online community. Share behind-the-scenes content, offer insights into your creative process, or run a Q&A session. This builds a stronger connection with your audience and keeps your work top of mind.
3. Network and Collaborate
Reach out to other creatives for potential collaborations. This not only expands your network but also brings fresh ideas and exposure to new audiences. Attend local events, online workshops, or creative meetups to find like-minded individuals.
4. Learn Something New
Invest in yourself by learning a new skill or improving an existing one. There are countless online courses and tutorials that can help you expand your craft and stay ahead of the curve.
This is exactly what I’ve been doing! I’m honing in on going deeper on my branding and digital marketing skills. I’m in a course that I LOVE and I’m already seeing results with my Instagram account. It’s very exciting! If this is something you need help with check it out here. It’s part of a new offer I have!
5. Plan Future Projects
Use this time to brainstorm and plan your next big project. Whether it’s a new series of work, a special event, or a collaboration, having a plan ready can make things smoother when business picks up again.
6. Review Your Business Strategy
Take a step back and review your business goals and strategies. Look at what’s working and what’s not, and make adjustments accordingly. This is a great time to set new goals and develop a plan to achieve them.
7. Engage with Your Community
Host a workshop or a live session to engage directly with your audience. Share tips, offer free mini-sessions, or give a tour of your creative space. This can create buzz and remind people of the value you bring.
8. Organize and Declutter
Finally, use this time to organize your workspace and declutter. This is definitely one of my favorite activities!! A clean, organized space can boost your creativity and productivity when things get busy again.
Remember, slow periods are just part of the journey. Use this time wisely, and you’ll come out stronger and more prepared for the busy times ahead. Keep pushing forward and stay creative!
Instead of getting bummed out, let’s turn slow seasons into growth opportunities!
