I love vision boards! I’ve been using them for years as a tool to support my goals and desires. I’ve heard a bunch of excuses from others for not doing them but really they’re just limiting beliefs. Are you making any of these excuses? Don’t let these things hold you back from going after your desires!
It doesn’t work
A vision board can be used as a creative tool to help you manifest your goals and desires. It’s a TOOL! You can’t just create the board and think you’re done. Some action is definitely required. Inspired action!
I recently got a new juicer as a holiday gift (it happened to be on my vision board! 🙂 ). A juicer is a tool to make healthy juices. I can’t just stare at it on my counter and expect it to make juice for me without any action on my part. Same with vision boards. They’re meant to keep you motivated and excited and to keep taking the next action step toward your goal. You do your part and the Universe will step in. Synchronicities and “coincidences” seem to magically happen when you do your part.
You need to be artsy
There’s no wrong way to design your vision board. Some people like things all neat and lined up while others like their design all over the place. You do you! You don’t need to be an “artist” or believe that you have to be creative to create a vision board. It’s not just for artists! Believing that you’re not creative is only a limiting belief anyway. I believe everyone is creative in their own way. For some people it’s with drawing, painting or photography. For others it could be how they put their wardrobe together or decorate their home. Everyone is creative in one way or another!
It’s just cutting up images from a magazine
There’s so much more to creating a vision board than the pictures you may cut out of a magazine. That part is definitely fun but In my Visualize To Materialize Workshop, we go through a set of journaling exercises before we even start creating our boards.
This helps everyone to get clarity in knowing what their true desires are.
It takes too long
This is meant to be a fun and enjoyable activity! We’re all busy with work, business, family, friends, hobbies, etc but this is the time to make yourself a priority. If you can spend hours each night binging Netflix shows, why not swap out some of that time to create a vision for your future? We can all benefit from some me-time to recharge. No need to put pressure on yourself that you have to complete it all at once but I believe once you get started, you’ll really get into it!
I have to show it to everyone
Your vision board is meant for YOU. It’s up to you where you display it and who you choose to show it to. If you have negative people in your life, don’t show it to them. Share it with the people that will be excited for you and cheer you on! I highly recommend getting a like-minded accountability buddy who also has a vison board so you can both be there for each other. You can also choose to keep it to yourself and not show anyone!
It’s all about material things
So not true! Yes if you desire a new home, new car or some other thing put it on your board but it’s meant for so much more. What do you want to do? What inspires you? So much more to think about beyond the material things. Don’t get me wrong, things aren’t bad – It’s whatever excites you that matters!
